Photos from Cory Thomas's post — St. Louis BMW Owners

Don't remember if I've ever shared this DIY with you guys but here it is anyways, enjoy!

                  E9x wood floor trunk

                  Tools required:

                  Circular or table saw

                  (2) 12 inch long x 1 inch wide hinges

                  Wood glue

                  Wide Masking tape

                  Large cardboard box

1 box of laminate enough for 20 or so sqft

                  Carpenter pencil

                  Razor knife

                  Screw driver

                  Paper towels

                  1-2 handle pulls

                  Step 1:

Buy 1 box of laminate of your choosing.

                  Step 2:

Connect the boards until they're as wide and long as your carpet trunk floor.

                  Step 3:

Use a wood pencil to outline the shape of your carpet floor onto the laminate.

                  Step 4:

Seperate the boards and mark them so you don't mix the up accidentally.

                  Step 5:

Cut the board outlines you drew with a table saw or circular saw.

                  Step 6:

Reconnect the boards and mark the center bend on the wood with your pencil, after marking, draw a line with a straight edge across from each point.

                  Step 7:

Cut the line, Mark top and bottom.

                  Step 8-10:

Flip boards over with bottom facing you, then glue the boards together one set at a time, aka 2 pieces, smear excess glue with a paper towel about a half inch on either side of seam, cover seam with masking rolling extra tape over and onto the top. Let dry.

Step 11: cut excess tape off ends of board after letting glue dry to the boards and tape. Approx. 15 mins. Repeat until top boards are fused and bottom set is fused.

                  Step 12:

Flip your top and bottom boards over with wood design facing you and attach hinges, be as precise as possible, you only get one shot.

                  Step 13:

Mark outline of wood floor onto cardboard and cut cardboard to shape. Cut about an inch all the way around off the cardboard and glue it to the top and bottom respectively. Let glue dry 30 mins.

                  Step 14:

Tape off end of trunk and drill holes for your handle. (The tape stops chipping)

                  Step 15:

                  Remove tape and attach handles.

                  Step 16:

Remove carpet floor and install wood floor. You may need to notch the wood where the carpet is for it to use the catch built into the top of the trunk area. Yes it will hold and release it just fine and only cut the wood, not the plastic catch!

Anyone interested in a Sunday morning back road breakfast run — St. Louis BMW Owners

Anyone interested in a Sunday morning back road breakfast run?

We start out at Francis Howell HS and run all the way down freshly paved highway 94 into Dutsow for breakfast at the Dutsow Deli and then back.

It's 20 miles each way and because it's early the roads are wide open. Fall is here and we only have a few more weekends left before it gets too cold to keep the tires warm so the clock is ticking.

We leave the HS lot at 8:00 AM on the nose. Seriously.

You'll be home by 10 for all the other stuff you need to do on Sunday.

Wanting back in the Nissan game bad! Selling my e36 318i 5 speed that runs awesome. Interior is a little rough, exterior has some wear but not horrible. Has 226xxx miles, original motor that the compression is still in the 180s. Ice cold ac, hot heat, power windows, mirrors, locks, sunroof doesn't work. Has 1 piece headlights with his and halos, raceland coilovers that ride nice, rota wheels with new tires, m3 bumper and rear sway bar and shift knob. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across country. Will need a new muffler and rad. fan which I may have. Any more questions ask. $1800obo. I'll try and get interior shots and engine shots later today.

Rear windows no longer work in my E36. Worked fine yesterday, now they act like the widow lock is on. (It isn't) wasn't messing with the switch prior; still feels fine now. Folks on forums mention the regulator, but I feel like its super unlikely both would fail at the exact same time. Thoughts? More likely the lock switch failed?

Adaptive bixenon in e46 facelift coupe went out while turning. While troubleshooting I noticed the casings on the wires inside the sealed housing had become very brittle and were cracking. One wire was broken, bingo. Removed the whole assembly, brought it in and broke out the soldering iron. Covered the bare copper patches with liquid tape(love this stuff) and voila, it works... for a while. Anybody know where I can get just the wiring or possibly a busted light to salvage parts from? Control module/ballast and igniter are good. So are the bulbs.

                              Need help. Car is a 1998 528i.

I was going to see if anyone can point me in the right direction. My car isn't throwing any kind of codes or lights but starting yesterday when you put it in drive, I notice it doesn't light up a D on the dash. When it does this it won't shift out of 1st. If I put it in 3 then back to d it goes from 3 to S and eventually lights up a D on the dash after awhile of driving and shifts perfectly fine after that.once it is in d it's shifts fine and even in the other gears it shift perfect but for some reason whenever it isn't showing up on the dash it won't shift out of first.Any ideas? It is tricking me since there aren't any codes.possible wheel speed sensors. I know I've read they can effect other parts of the carThank you any insight and your time

Stephen Cook shared From City To Circuit's event to the group: St. Louis BMW Owners. — St. Louis BMW Owners

Hey guys! I'm actually from Kansas City (I own a supercharged E36 M3), but I'm going to be in St. Louis next Saturday (July 9) and I'd love to photograph some of your cars for From City To Circuit. We do a bunch of meets here in KC and this summer we're expanding our events to other cities (so far we've also had meets in Austin and Wichita). This photo is from a rooftop meet that we hosted in KC earlier this year.

The plan is to do a shoot and meet on the top of a parking garage in downtown St. Louis. The exact location is TBA and will be announced the day of the meet.

Other than a few bucks to pay for garage entry, this event is free of charge. All performance and special interest cars are welcome.

Please let me know if you have any questions! I hope to see you there: https://www.facebook.com/events/793186044151735/

So looks like the 335i is going in storage for a good 1-2 years. Due to the airbag recall, BMW has decided to give a Enterprise car rental of my choice every month till the air bags get fixed.

Here is what I was told by a service manager... It'll be 6 months to a year before parts come to the shop, then it'll be 6 months to a year till my car gets in for service.. So it'll be a while.

The best car that they had on the lot upon my arrival was a fully loaded 2016 Chrysler 200. So far it's not too bad.

So here are my perks and cons.

                                  Perks:

Free car rental for a long time

Get to pick out whatever car I want on Enterprises lot every month.

Taking the car rental to trips and vacations without having to actually rent a car.

                                  No mileage/maintenance to worry about.

Time to completely strip the 335i down and do maintenance on it.

                                  & more.

                                  Cons:

Can't drive the 335i at all.

Can't listen to the exhaust on the highway.

                                  Can't hit boost.

                                  and so much more.

Do you think this was a good decision?
