OK, so I know I have said this before, but, the Beemer is up for sale. Change in circumstances at home means something has to go and I still have my two bikes, so I cant grumble and sooner or later I will be back to the BMW fold. please no "your making a mistake" comments.

I've owned it for 4 years roughly, I've had her Terracleaned, serviced and looked after. She was on the rollers at ADE last year and had lost 2bhp and says something for the engine! The car has service history up to me owning her. BAD POINTS, the car is 14years old and has age related marks, there is a scuff on the rear bumper where I caught it with a rotary polisher, The drivers side bolster has a tear, The grill is missing a clip or two, Other than that every works as it should log book in my name and receipts for lots of bits and pieces throughout her life. Well....my car has broken down :( think it's the alternator. It just managed to get my hubby home and it was making some terrible noises. As soon as he turned the engine off it wouldn't start again. When he tried to start it it clicked (not like a flat battery) and that was it. Going to ring the garage tomorrow and get it booked in. I'll have to get a tow from hubby :/

Does anyone know what altinator a 750i would take? Current prices are between £200-£700 for a new one off eBay depending on which one. TIA

For sale is my bmw 320d, reason for sale is turbo has started to whine and haven't got time to replace it, car has just gone past the 100k mark and still has mot until April, comes with black mv1 alloys, new decat exhaust from turbo, boot lip and roof spoiler, cream leather interior, carbon cubed interior trim, m3 mirrors with indicators, brake disks and pads are good all around, car is still running fine atm, just sorned it and was planning on fixing but no time forces sale, standard front bumper included in sale, had over £1000 spent on it in the last 6month and has never let me down so will make someone a good car, would like decent offers around £500 ono, located Cleator moor

Ok so I have a small dilemma. Nothing serious but a bit annoying. After months of waiting to get the old girl fixed ( bmw 1998 523i Se e39), she is finally fixed. The car uses photochromatic glass on the wing mirrors which are also heated. The glass is quite simple to remove, you simply slide a little plastic lever at the front bottom of the glass which turns a round plastic holder at the rear. It looks similar to a bayonet fitting. What I want to know is this. Is there a plain mirror glass alternative as I am not bothered about replacing the glass with the original photochromatic glass as they are a wallet busting £200 a pop or so!

Ok some of you guys know I've struggled with a fueling fault for some time. After a long run say Mway and then spirited A roads it would cut to half power, then ignition off and reset.

I had it into a couple of indi garages, tried various diagnostic tools but no real luck. After 3 years I took it to Hardings Garage in Penwortham. They kept me up to date and narrowed it down to the fuel pressure switch on the back of the pump, source a new part beating main stealers by far! It's now driving perfect! Very happy and very recommended.

When I dropped the car off they were hard at it with an E60 M5, replacing heads and clutch then reprogramming the car. The lads are ex Bowker staff. Recommended.

Ok. I admit defeat. I hate being defeated but now I am. It's a daft situation the car has a simple fault I assume but I have now got to the point where I need expert help. I can't move the car because it won't start. I can't read the codes because the scanner won't connect with the car. I can't even get under the car because I have no jack. I am totally at a loss. It wouldn't bother me much, but the car has high sentimental value. I really could do with a good local mobile mechanic. I feel sure the crank sensor is faulty but I don't feel happy doing it myself. The car is not in a good place to be picked up and sent somewhere. Just a quick recap, the car is a 1998 bmw e39 with the m52 engine. Fault is cranks but will not fire. Please help, ive gone beyond desperation!

I have a BMW 320i petrol that has a fault it's like holding back on the power and every now and again the engine management light comes on but if I turn it off then back on it goes off but still sluggish

I had a Terraclean done last week thinking that might sort it out to clean the system out of carbon build up but that not worked the guy who done the Terraclean when he disconnect the fuel line the car should Ov cut out but it didn't it ran for few seconds longer he said the issue I have is prob the high pressure fuel pump I might need to replace it

                                  So any ideas would help

Evening all — North West BMW owners forum

                                      Evening all,

My thermostat may be on the way out... but i'm not sure which... EGR or main!

The temperature gauge will rise to middle in town or when ragging it and never go over. But when on the motorway or crusing steady it will be on the first white line, 10 o'clock position. Without throwing parts at it, is there a definite way to tell?

If it's the main stat, easy enough to do?

I'm competent enough to try and do it myself, but may require assistance from someone who's done it!

                                      Thanks in advance everyone!

Well my car is booked in again tomorrow for the garage. Engine warning light is on again and it's running like a bag of shite. I've only had this car a year and it's been the most troublesome car I've ever owned in my 18 years of driving. If the repair is going to be over a certain amount then the car will be scrapped (or I'll break it) and I'll search for a new one. I have no faith in it anymore :(

Spring is approaching and clean cars are happy cars, for all your valeting and detailing advice, products and services try James Bird at remyroc (there is a FB page).

James offers some cracking deals on Autobrite, ODK and Angel wax products to name a few, some I can personally recommend. He is a mobile detailer, and you can see some of his work on the remyroc FB page and website, there is advice on there and product guides.

James is a good guy, won't steer you wrong and having dealt with personally I will recommend him.

I need some advice please :)

When I start my car (2004 E46 330i coupe) the second or third time during the day my yellow oil light comes on, stays on for a bit then goes off but when I start my car the first time of the day, nothing appears. I've checked the oil and topped it up as it does leak. Do you think it's just a fault or something else? Cheers

I'm just reading up about the intake/exhaust systems on my 535d as i'm aware of potential swirl flap issues. I've also read about the EGR systems that can contribute to swirl flap failure (excess carbon matter, etc) and EGR systems also reduce power and efficiency - all in the name of reducing NOx emissions (bloody green peace hippies....grrr...).

Has anyone ever removed the EGR valve & cooler and blanked the system off? Is it even advisable as a potential "tune up" to gain more bhp?

                                                          Cheers folks

I need to know who is up for it and what sundays YOU CAN ATTEND obviously majority rules. Looking into November time. I am assured the road is accurate, there is a viewing area and if enough attend a buffet or van will be put on.

I already have three, admittedly one is a Civic, but BMW group members be given priority.

BMW E90 M3 Mirrors with the High Gloss (Shadow line) finish, they are Manual folding, heated glass and tinting IIRC.

Mirror caps have been painted from Silverstone to Le Mans Blau/Blue.

These are absolutely mint, I bought these last month with the intention of putting them on my E90 but I didn't get time to fit them and I've sadly just (today) lost my Job so I need the money far more than having some mirrors that are as rare as rocking horse s**t. These are £1000+ new from BMW. Saved up for months for these as they are an awesome addition and I wanted them for years.

I just want what I paid for them not bothered about the cost of the caps on top.

                                                              £650 OVNO

Had a crack with these today from James at Remyroc Detailing. I washed the car last night so nice and fresh today as a de dust. The Angelwax "bugshifter" did as it is supposed to as a pre wash. It was effortless and just required a good wash. Today I tried the red "wash" it worked a treat on the load liner which was mud covered from the dog! in the Mrs. car all the kiddie footprints on the back on the chair lifted away. Onto the Rubber and Vinyl, nice and easy again, I think I used too much at first but gave a really great finish. Finally the polish as always gave an amazing finish with very little work.

I then used tyre blacker and bumper restorer outside, the Rubber and vinyl didn't really work on the exterior for me. James has other products but the stuff I used worked best on the interior. Very happy and now slightly sore.

                                                                  %d comments

Righto I have taken upon myself to change the photo. Last months "comp" wasn't greatly received, no bodys fault, but I'll pick one month and then the next will be a photo comp. Slightly bias as I have an E46 and have a soft spot to the 5 tourer.

I would like to do a feature or two, I just need a heads up on who would like their car featured. This means photo's, write up on the motor when you got it, mods and intentions etc. I would start but mines still a bit boring and to be honest I am still looking into it's history.

                                                                    %d comments

I have an M20B25 in my BMW E21, it has always been running a little rich with a slightly high idle, never got to the bottom of it.

However, yesterday I went for a good drive and everything was fine until it started cutting out on idle all of a sudden.

Through the throttle range it's fine, if a little lumpy, but when it drops to idle, it dies.

I've posted a video below of it starting, and then dying.

It's also running very very rich, with some blue and black smoke coming from the exhaust, it also sounds like it might possibly be misfiring, but that clears once the revs are brought up.

                                                                      Anyone got any suggestions?

I would like a quality gathering. Im not into DH burning sideways through carparks and the like.

It starts somewhere in the neighbourhood of $75.000 and the price can go very high (especially for the M6). Therefore, 80.000 units sold in three years is a rather impressive feat and BMW officials did not want to change much for the 2016 BMW 6 series. The North American International Auto Show was the place where BMW unveiled their slightly updated 6 Series and they did not bring only one or two cars to show the novelties. They have some standards and they’ve unveiled the BMW640i Coupe, the 650i Coupe, the 640i Gran Coupe, the M6, the M6 Convertible and the 640i Convertible.

The special edition BMW M4 is made of lightweight carbon composite, the design and the development were done in-house. The Vorsteiner designers started with a blank sheet of paper and image of previous wide boy editions such as the E92 M3 based GTRS3. Once the design was done it was time to 3d scan the M4 body using BLLT(Blue Light Laser Technology). Then taking the renderings to create prototypes.

Vorsteiner claims it wasn’t just about going as wide as possible or the wheels would not move under load at any speeds.
