Hey guys.

Have abit of a situation.

My partner just bought a 2002 e46 318i AUTO.

when the car was inspected everything was great.

Drove home which was about an hours drove.

Next day drove abit odd.

But now is a whole different story.

When you start the car it shows up with the little "cog" light. When that light is on it shifts like shit. Like really hard and late. And downshift real hard.

Then goes into sports mode by itself and cant get out of it.

Then when you are driving in the manual function it downshifts by itself.

Also today was stuck in 4th gear and couldnt get it out no matter what i tried.

If anyone has any possible advice or things to try that would be great.

Bmw e34 new re-trim pleather interior....ordered it custom last year December, started fitting it to my extra e34 rear seat bench and back....the kit comes with re-trims for the front too, they will need to be steemed and streched propally over the seats foam....im selling this kit as in mew condition as ive never installed it in the car, was originally 1.3k, but negotiable as im not needing it anymore :)

Would look good intalled in a clean e34, bought the kit as its hard to find perfect e34 seats these days and i wanted a brand new interiot look :)

Feel free to offer a price for it, im located in upper coomera ;)

We've had a disaster! Wife went to work the other morning & the car threw up the engine light & it was missing. The miss was only noticeable at idle, being the good woman she is, she googled it & a common issue for the code was a faulty coil pack. I pulled the coil packs, plugs & thought I'll do a compression test while at it. Not good..1 & 2 150psi, 3 & 4 100psi. I haven't delved further as yet.

I am a mechanic by trade but out of the game a lot of years & what I do now is mostly restoration work on older cars. I have rebuilt engines etc... but not something as late as this.

      My questions are?

Is it better to rebuild or get a rebuilt engine & who's the best to deal with in either case. We're in Hervey Bay. I could remove & refit an engine.

Is it something I should tackle a rebuild myself or are they pretty complex & need a mechanic that knows more about BMW engines.

      2004 E46 318i.

Any advice would be truly appreciated.

Hey guys been having abit of trouble with my e92 m3 today — BMW Forum Queensland

Hey guys, been having abit of trouble with my e92 m3 today

Was driving along the highway, then the radio was cutting in and out, then got a dsc failure warning, airbag failure warning, car went to limp mode (put a 4000rpm limiter on dash), got a "check electrical system" warning, then when i stopped at the service station the motor died

Would not start, wouldnt even turn the starter motor on

Had dinner, let the car sit for about 20 minutes, tried it and it started like normal, no warnings, drove home no problems

Then went out later tonight and the same thing happened, the battery is less than a year old :/

Any ideas on what may be the issue

FOR SALE (on behalf of my husband - please see contact details below):

Up for sale is my beloved E46 manual M3 (built Nov 2005, first registered 2006) with just over than 84 000km, Silver Grey, coupe. I’m only selling it as I need a more practical car for my young family and want it to go to a good home (would rather sell it to club member or other enthusiast).

I’ve had it since early 2013 (bought from Sydney) and it has been meticulously maintained by RX automotive and had oil changes done every 5000km (August 2015: Inspection I service and valve clearance checked; last oil service done this month). I bought it stock (Alcantara suede/leather interior, sunroof, OEM 19 inch rims, satnav/TV), but have done quite a bit of work to it (it came second in its class in the 2015 BMW club show at Motorfest); it’s in excellent condition.

Exterior: Ducoscratch clear coat paint protection; Nanoceramic paint protection

Wheels: 19inch genuine BBS CSL wheels, Michelin PSS

Brakes: Stopteck big brake kit (ST-40 355, ST-22) with stainless steal lines

          Suspension: KW V3 adjustable coilovers

Exhaust: full Supersprint (headers V2, Catted 100 cell section 1, resonated section 2, Street exhaust)

Evolve carbon fibre airbox (sounds amazing!) and conservative tune (300hp at the wheels- stock 270hp)

          Under drive Turner Pulley kit

Rear subframe checked prior to reinforcement with BMW structural foam

          Autosolutions 20% short shift kit

          Custom suede dash mat

          Asking $49 000

          Cheers,

I know this because the last 3 times I have filled up the gauge only shows a half tank. No is this an easy fix or is it going to be costly and a right royal pain in the

Looking to buy my next beamer. Got $4000 max to spend. Just sold my 1998 -318i & 1995 -316i. Heading overseas soon for a few months but still need a good car in the meantime. I have a VW Transporter up for sale now with a few people interested in taking a look. Ideally, I'd like to have my next car ready in the wings waiting for me the day I sell the van. Prefer something that doesn't need any work to do. I spent a fortune getting my last car exactly as I liked it. I love classic cars and put on Maleny Classics each year so not adverse to a nice 2002 or something if it runs well and my dream car is a Z4 which I know at $4000 may need a little work but they are around. I was thinking a 323i perhaps with metal motor and leather seats, something stronger than the plastic stuff in the lower ranks. Anything nice is worth messaging me. Open to offers to see what's out there. PM me a photo might be best

It is looking like I will not be able to go to Bathurst this year as I have to return home to Perth soon as my father is very ill and I need to get back to see him

I have a room with 2 x beds (Denis can you confirm) for check in Thursday 2nd Feb and check out Mon 6th Feb at one of our usual houses. I also have 2 x 3 day passes. I would like to be able to decide at the last minute but that wont be possible.

If anyone is interested let me know. I have paid for everything and would just like as recoup any money I can.

                  cheers

A Little 10-year-old girl was walking home, alone, from school one day, when a big man in a new minivan pulls up beside her. After following along for a while, he winds down the window and asks her,

"Hey there little girl, do you want to go for a ride?"

"NO!" says the little girl as she keeps on walking.

The driver again pulls up beside her and asks,

"Hey little girl, I will give you $10 if you hop on in the back."

"NO!" says the little girl again as she hurries down the street.

The driver pulls up beside the little girl again and says,

"Okay kid, my last offer! I'll give you 20 Bucks "and" a big bag of lollies if you will just hop in and we will go for a drive with me".

Finally, the little girl stops and turns towards him and Screams Out...

"Look Dad" "You're the one who bought the Honda minivan instead of the BMW mum wanted ...YOU DRIVE IT!!"

My new boss has a 328i touring (think it's a 2014/15) anyway he has a few mods. He's got a 335i m performance axle back mod with the carbon tips. Currently the valve for the passenger side is sticky and stays closed, even attempting to open by hand is hard. Wondering who I can recommend he goes to? Was thinking I could send him your way Lance as he's Southside.

I've also suggested he becomes a financial club member :p.

Car has intake, jb stage 1, 335i m axle back not sure what else but definitely a cool family wagon.

This time for a change Id be interested in going Co-pilot if anyone can accommodate me. I come with my own picnic rug for star gazing under the night sky, great sense of humour, assorted music for the trip and gluten free snacks.... Looking for a driver who has great night vision and likes keeping all 4 wheels on the ground especially on the corners. If you think you have what it takes to apply for this opportunity .. speak up or join the crickets chirping in the background. Thanks everyone. Crystal.

Ive relocated to the Sunshine Coast from Sydney, and have a restored BMW 1600, 1968 model Ive owned since 1970 that I need to ship across from Perth where the reno work was done. Im unsure about registration in Queensland for classic cars, its much more expensive here and also restrictive. Im unsure if Ill be driving down to Brisbane and surrounds to attend many club meets, although I will join the Qld club, but it would be great to be able to take the old girl out for a short drive from time to time. Any suggestions about the best way forward for registration? thanks Brian Purdey

Unfortunately the BMW I bought in 2016 was beautiful on the outside but not so beautiful under the bonnet. What really makes me sick though the mob that sold me this car Select Automotive in Kedron (Boothby Street) probably knew about the cars fatal overheating problem and managed to disguise it pretty well as it drove fantastic for the first 5 months or so. I've been deliberately conned by these so called automotive experts (they are mechanics too) and unfortunately the problems didn't appear until later down the track. I also learned that a blown head gasket (my BMW's problem) could have been disguised with a cheap and very short term fix that seals the leak for a little while. Words cannot describe the disappointment I'm feeling right now as this was my absolute dream car. I've been a BMW E39 patriot since the car came on to the market more than 20 years ago. But these things happen and we have to move on

The ease of dealing with westside was so smooth from the time I rang up to book the car in... to the Valet service line, courtesy driver and through to the collection of my car. The staff were friendly and helpful and very professional. They were able to finish the car sooner than expected and I returned to find a beautiful E46 looking as sparkly and as clean as the day that I first took her home. I was super impressed with the level of care and attention to detail. Thanks for looking after my little Scarlett today.

Very tidy car inside and out and runs and drives great started having a pressure issue about 2 months ago so I stopped driving it. Located in Mackay and have spent 1000-1500 on parts and labour swapping the thermostat, gasket and housing, viscos fan hub, lower radiator hose and coolant bottle hose. Have all new window regulators ready to go in as the old regulators don't work anymore and have trouble holding the windows up but i tested the new ones and they all work perfect. Only looking for 2000 as it needs a head gasket. Message for more information and make an offer.

                                            E39 question...

I'm currently in NZ where fuel prices are astronomical.... and I have a 540i e39..

Anyways... I had a 730i v8 with the m60 engine and ran 91... however I went to put 91 in the 540i and a guy from the Toyota dealership stopped me and told me I should only run 95/98 in this car....

98 has only just come to this town about 3 months ago....

What's the story here? Only run hi octane fuel? He said I could do serious damage running 91?

I just saw a beautiful new blue 3 series in the city. Looked tough. M badges on the front fenders, black side skirts sculpted into the bodywork with prominent "M Performance" decals below the rear doors. Looked the part. But..... it was a 320d....

This was delivered from the factory like this, so what are they thinking???

I have a ‘damaged’ 1990 Australian delivered E34 M5 which I bought as an ‘economical write- off’. Showing 312,508 kms and unfortunately do not have the service history, however do have some info from the previous owner:-

"It was a great car with much money spent including top end rebuild less than 8,000 kms ago".

The previous owner had a BMW mechanic rebuild the top end of the engine which cost about $7k included all chains and guides . Top End rebuild only – [nothing touched on Bottom end.]

Front end damage, however radiator has not touched engine – has damaged fan blades and some plastic coverings, so engine & gearbox are good. Panel shop fellow said it could be repaired but needs plenty of parts & time.

I want to sell the E34 M5 complete and realistically we all know is worth $11,500++. (S38B36 M-Power engine, wiring loom, ECU, gearbox, shifter, tailshaft, LSD, Staggered Throwing Star Forged wheels & tyres, grey leather sports seats- electric with 3 x memory positions & interior, etc).

I will not part-out – selling complete, as is.. This is a bit too much of a project for me at the moment, so selling on.

Tyres have approx 4,000 kms on them, all suspension arms bushes etc where replaced approx 10,000 kms ago.

Interior has M5 Sport Seats, electric with 3 x memory positions in grey leather and good to very good condition.

Bring a car trailer and $11,500 cash, and it is yours, or for a bit more, I can load & deliver in the Qld S.E area, including to a trucking depot if you have transport arranged.

pm me for more info and phone number.

I have a BNIB 1:18 Minichamps 1987 E30 M3 (Street) in Diamondschwartz that has been sitting for a few years now and I am happy for someone else to make it there own. These sell for around $200+ from what I can see. I cant find any in Australia only US and UK ebay. Mine is never been out of the box although I notice the roof antenna is missing so so not sure why or where. You could make another easy enough though.

It's yours for $100. I dont want the money however. I want it donated to my beyondblue (Suicide Prevention) charity fundraising event which I have linked below. If you're interested, let me know, make the $100 donation and it it yours.

Is anyone after a cheap diesel (2006 120d) 1 series? I'm about to get mine detailed and sort out a roadworthy, but if anyone here is interested in doing the running around I could sell it as-is for $7,000. It's been a highway car so it has a fair few stone chips on the bonnet (see pic) and has racked up 240,000km, but it's had a very easy life. Stock apart from a LOGIC7 tweeter upgrade and retrofit of later Bluetooth (MULF2) with USB/iPod (all genuine bits). It's got a paint chip in the rear driver's side door (see pic) and also scratches on the trim where the cup holders are. I have a new trim part here to replace the scratched part which will be supplied with the car. The boot trim has some scratches too. There's no marks on the wheels or anything like that, and the tyres have plenty of life.

                                                      Cheers!

So since the first day I've had the car, it's ALWAYS had a slight coolant leak and I suspect this has been the culprit. Small dribbles down the back of the engine/bell housing and needing to be topped up every fortnight. My question is, and maybe Lance or Pierz can answer, but how to these hoses come out or come apart, and what do I use to re-seal them again? While it's all apart the other coolant lines are being replaced, the PCV is being replaced and the rocker cover gaskets are too. Is there any other periodical maintenance items I should replace while it's all apart? E39 540 M62TUB44

On a golf tour in Ireland, Tiger Woods drives his BMW into a petrol station in a remote part of the Irish countryside.

The pump attendant, who obviously knows nothing about golf, greets him in a typical Irish manner completely unaware of who the golfing pro is.

"Top of the mornin' to yer, sir" says the attendant.

Tiger nods a quick "hello" and bends forward to pick up the nozzle. As he does so, two tees fall out of his shirt pocket onto the ground.

"What are those?, asks the attendant.

                                                          "They're called tees" replies Tiger.

"Well, what on the god's earth are they for?" inquires the Irishman.

"They're for resting my balls on when I'm driving", says Tiger.

"Feckin Hell", says the Irishman, "BMW thinks of everything !

                                                            Hi all,

We (well me anyway) do from time to time have laugh and sometimes take the mickey out of each other but it is always done with good intentions. We love our BMW's and the joy they bring, particularly on a great drive day. However, there is a serious side to me (yes I know, where?) though, that not many may be aware of.

Next April-May I am setting off to trek to Everest Base Camp and then climb Mt Imja Tse. The trek and climb will take me 23 days and will involve:-

212 kilometres to be trekked (the easy part) (around 30-45% less oxygen), 27,677 cumulative feet to be ascended (the hard part) and

12 hours (on summit day) straight climbing in 50% less oxygen to the summit of Mt Imja Tse (the hardest part). I have been training now for about 6 months for this. Mt Imja Tse is not as high as Everest and is about 22,000 feet. It is however high enough that it can not sustain survival long term due to the lack of oxygen, oh and the cold. During the day temps will be around +17 degrees (good) and at night it can get down to around -20 degrees (bad) On top of the peak it will be around -10 degrees (not as bad but still not good) in the day.

Now, along the way I am raising money for our beyondblue charity next year in an attempt to raise the awareness of suicide in this country. Every day, 8 Australians take their own life and many many more try. It is an indictment on all of our Governments that more is not done to assist these people in what can only be described as "Their Darkest Hour". This money will be donated to beyondblue along with the other funds raised at different club events and of course our regularity day.

If you have any spare change, small or large, please help me reach my target of $10,000. If there are any businesses in the BMWCQ community that want to help out, that would be fantastic also. I would be happy to promote you company in some form standing on the top of the mountain, providing I haven't already slid down the 22,000 ice slide :)

Donations can be made directly to my fundraising page below.

                                                              Can someone please help?

I have just bought a BMW e36 318i last week. In the video it shows you what is happening. The idle is really bad. Sometimes when the engine is cold and you start it, it will be fine for a while but once it reaches running temperature, it starts doing this again. In the video it's not too bad...sometimes il be in traffic then when I come to a stop it just stalls unless I keep the Revs up.

I've tried to read up on it and I'm going to try and do a vacuum leak test tomorrow. Maybe even take out the Idle control valve and give it a clean?

If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it! :)

After some serious debate and a lot of thought, I've reluctantly decided to sell my beloved twins.

These prime E36 examples ooze character and present in original used but loved condition.

Never seen rain and only driven highway kilometres to church on Sundays by two elderly family members whom love their BMW's as you can see.

Rare individual factory yellow with a dash of dust brown highlights to finish the rare combo paint scheme. Friend of friends neighbours brother in law tells me these cars are rare.

Only selling as family members eye sight is failing with age and guide dogs were struggling with getting in and out of these gems, but I'm told everything works as would be expected with these prime examples.

Selling unregistered but pretty sure it wouldn't take much to bring it up to QLD roadworthy spec.

First to see and try and start (happy to give a push start for serious buyers) will buy either of these beasts, so serious offers only please.

If you're keen I'll even mow the long grass surrounding them so you get a good look at them now.

I've shared only 3 photos of the exterior with no interior shots so that you can make an informed decision before bombarding me with offers. Less is more when selling a car on Facebook I've been told.

The opportunity to drive on one of the greatest racetracks in the world, at speed, was something I couldn't pass up. It was over 3 years in the planning and the organisation was first class. This years event was such a success there are plans to run it again next at approximately the same time. E39 M5 for sale in Imola Red. History of the car, first owner went to jail for stealing 26M from AMF, second owner purchased from auctions (repossessed). He owned until I purchased in march 2016.

Car sat from 2011 up until I purchased. The original Odometer was lost in the floods (was sent away getting the LCD screen fixed and the wArehouse it was at flooded). When I purchased it, the ecu read 160000KM (iirc) and the dash read 96000, and I've since done 8000KM with not a single issue.

When I purchased I replaced the brake rotors with OEM spec 2 piece rotors (BMW branded Zimmermanns rear and Zimmerman front) with Akebono Ceramic Pads.

                                                                    Also replaced

                                                                    Diff Pinion Seal

2 of the 3 rubber power steering hoses (since the 3rd has started to leak but will be replaced)

2 x plastic under panes because one got munched by a stick (brittle plastic)

The paint's alright, but no where near showroom condition. Rear bar is all it really needs to be painted, though I've been tossing up a respray to make it 100%

Interior is in good nick, cigarette hole in back seat from one of the various wild nights from the previous owner. Carpets/Matts are good, dash is good, roof liner is good, front seats and steering wheel is slightly lazy.

Other than all of that, the car runs and drives perfectly. I did intend to keep it in a garage but it's just too much fun, but unfortunately I need the money so I can invest in my business.

Putting it up for $28k ono.

                                                                    %d comments

                                                                          Hi all,

I'm sure I'm not alone in that when I received my club magazine in the letterbox today I straight away made myself comfortable with a hot beverage and read it from cover to cover.

Although every article was very well written, I would like to make a particular mention of Michael Blankenberg's effort in covering his experience with the i8. Ive been fortunate enough to get behind the wheel of this venerable vehicle and I have to say that Michael's words were 100% spot-on on what the experience is like. It certainly brought the memories back and as he so accurately described, if a passer-by isn't staring at the car in amazement, then they literally have not seen it.

A big thumbs-up Michael - can't wait to see more of your work!

You get to catch up with old friends and meet new ones all the time in a relaxed casual atmosphere. Well at next years Nationals, nothing will beat the atmosphere we have planned at the meet and greet on Friday the 14th of April.

Our dinner venue at Captains Cove Bistro is in the heart of Dockside, BMWCA Nationals HQ. Captains Cove is quintessentially Queensland, its open, its casual, its scenic and its by the river. Afterwards, an evening scenic stroll across the Story Bridge is just metres away. The lights of beautiful Brisbane are all around you at Dockside. Pre-Dinner drinks are available from 5:30 pm and after a short welcome from myself, dinner commences at 7:00 pm.

Dont miss this one as it will be the start of the 4 days of festivities. Dont forget to book on the nationals website for all the Nationals activities.

Not alpina just stickers on a blue vinyl wrap. The car is actually red underneath the wrap. Good strong m10 ktronic injection motor. Lsd. Twin stainless steel exhausts. Re-upholstered interior is very nice.

Currently not starting due to fuel suppy issue. Not sure if it's the fuel pump, a relay or possibly the ignition impulse sender. Not had time to diagnose. Some rust in the usual spots but pretty good for a 36 year old car. Good project car already turns heads.

I've been with Suncorp since I got the car and had no troubles, but just think the price is too high for my driving history and the car.

I've had no claims in the last 5+ years and it's 2010 135i and is always garaged at night and most days now. Suncorp want $1100 for comprehensive cover.

I'd be interested to hear what other 135i owners are paying and with who?

Extremely rare individual color combination, (Dakar yellow was not usually available on E46) and this one has the oyster trim, looks incredible in person. Possibly the only one in Australia and one of maybe a handful world wide. Optioned with Harmon Kardon sound system upgrade. 134000 klms with all books and no expense spared maintenance by my BMW specialist. I bought it approx 12 months ago from the original elderly lady owner but with 2 small children we have purchased an X3. Stunning original condition with barely even a stone chip. Couple of light scuffs under front bar. I have fitted immaculate genuine 19 inch M double spoke style 225 wheels and have originals also. Has rego until 05/2017. Not in a hurry to sell and am looking for $12000. Car can be inspected at Helensvale until next week then it will be at Tweed Heads.

I require 255 40 R17, looking for a fairly firm compound that offers good grip in all weather conditions. Currently running Federal 595s and before your negative comments yes i know they are a budget tyre and not the best. I was in a tight spot financially at the time.

I would like directional that I can flip from wheel to wheel to increase the life as they get stupid camber wear on the inside only.

Also looking for something a little better in wet weather conditions, whilst the Federals have been pretty good and I have no real issues in the dry, they are slippy as hell in the wet.

                                                                                          Any contacts out there?

This is the 12th year now and I dont think we could have asked for a better day. Thanks to all the drive team leaders (most of who were new to their roles) for making it such an enjoyable and successful day. A special thank you to our most supportive club member, Crystal Sheumack and mum Brenda for making in excess of 200 cupcakes and providing much need drinks at our midway stop in Waingaree.

Am looking for some other members feedback on a very strange iPhone Bluetooth issue with my parents 2010 320d.

Whenever you make a call from the iPhone 5c through the car as soon as it starts to ring there is extremely loud static and once answered neither side of the call can hear each other. The same goes if you receive a call, it's silent and neither end can hear each other.

The iPhone has the latest iOS 10 and Apple have tested the Bluetooth using a speaker and there are no faults.

I have removed and re-paired the phone numerous times without improvement.

For testing purposes the same iPhone in my 2010 135i has the same issues with making and receiving calls and if I use my iPhone 5s in my parents car it works perfectly, thus eliminating the car iDrive system as the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this, and better yet, found a solution to it?

                                                                                                Thanks in advance.

I have been involved in the BMW Car Club movement since 1983 with my first BMW, an e21 323i Motorsport.

In the early 1990's when I lived on the Gold Coast, there were a group of enthusiastic club members who, each month would drive up to and from Brisbane to participate in meetings & events with BMW Club Queensland.

We approached Clubs Australia and applied for and were granted permission to start up BMW Club Gold Coast and although it was and is a very small group of people, we have maintained our passion and had a lot of fun along the way..

                                                                                                            Here's the rub.

I have heard and ignored for over 20 years snide comments about BMW Club Gold Coast being a splitter group with their own agenda, and frankly, I'm sick of hearing it.

The truth is we formed another group of enthusiasts, sanctioned by and incorporated into BMW Clubs Australia and have supported the club movement.

What made me think of this was last night, I drove from Brisbane to the Gold Coast to support the monthly meeting at the old Bruce Lynton BMW dealership which has now been sold and rebranded Gold Coast BMW.

                                                                                                            Wrong place, wrong time?

It struck me at 11pm that after all these years, I'm still driving to & from the Gold Coast, still supporting the Club movement and still enjoying it.

I'd like to say a MASSIVE thank you to Brad Hall for lending me his race car for the weekend. This red rocket sure was a hell of a lot of fun. Can't wait to put in some coil overs and get this thing handling 100%. Also a huge thank you to Neil Cocking for helping me out over the last week with picking the car up, helping me getting it to the track and helping me while I was there. Also big thanks to the BMW club for running a great event and more importantly they raised $8000 for the beyond blue charity. My team also got 2nd for the day which was a bonus! Great day overall and keen to get behind the wheel again soon!
